To record demos, you only need to set key bindings for "Start Demo Recording" and "Stop Demo Recording" by:

  1. Open Killing Floor.
  2. Click "Settings".
  3. Click the "Controls" tab.
  4. Find "Start Demo Recording" and "Stop Demo Recording". By default, there are no keys assigned to them.
  5. Click under Key 1 on the same row of "Start Demo Recording" and press your desired hot-key for it.
  6. Click under Key 1 on the same row of "Stop Demo Recording" and press your desired hot-key for it.
  7. To play your demo, open the console (~) and type "demoplay <your demo file name>"

To use it in-game, simply press your "Start Demo Recording" hot-key to start and press your "Stop Demo Recording" hot-key to stop. It will be saved into Steam/steamapps/common/killingfloor/Demos. It will be a .demo4 format and will be named "Demoyyyy-mm-dd-xxxxxxxx.demo4". yyyy mm dd is the year, month and day the demo was taken while xxxxxxxx is 8 different numbers that is unknown to what it corresponds to.

The console can also be used to record demos by:

  1. Open Killing Floor.
  2. Open the console (~).
  3. Enter "demorec <your desired file name>"
  4. When you want to stop recording, type in the console "demostop"
  5. To play your demo, open the console (~) and type "demoplay <your demo file name>"

The file will be in the same directory and format as when using hotkeys.
